Backpacking in Jordan, Syria and Lebanon

This month my dear friend Mattis and I have once again been backpacking in the Middle East countries. We flew to Amman in Jordan and from there we continued into Syria by bus, where we travelled around in the country. After leaving Syria, we set course towards Beirut, Lebanon. The journey gave me lots of new great experiences and traveling as a backpacker was definitely something I enjoyed.

Backpacking in Israel, the Palestinian Territories, Jordan and Egypt

My dear friend Mattis and I have been packing in four Middle East countries during the month of June and July. We arrived in Tel Aviv, felt the spirits of the Old City in Jerusalem, witnessed the birth place of Jesus, swam in the Dead Sea. Spent a night in Jericho, because the border to Jordan was closed. The next day we entered the Hashemite Kingdom and spent a few days in Amman before taking the ferry from Aqaba to Nuweiba, Egypt. Relaxed in the great town of Dahab. Took a bus for 20 hrs to Luxor. Walked around in the Valley of the Kings and started realizing the great history that Egypt has. After Luxor, and a short time in Aswan, we took the train up to Cairo, where I for the first time felt the intense pulse of Africa’s most populated city. Getting an amazing view of the city, with the city limits showing no limits. We took transportation to Alexandria and stayed there for a short time, before taking a bus to the Siwa Oasis. Far far out. Before touch down in the oasis, we made a long walk from the main road by Marsa Matrouh out to the Mediterranean Sea. No one there by the beach, just us. Well, one soldier asking what we were doing there. While in the area, we visited the El Alamein cemetery. A strange feeling. After our tour to the western parts of Egypt we returned to Cairo, where we made it out to the pyramids. Difficult imaging these monuments. Looking back at my first backpacking trip ever, it’s difficult to summarize it, oh well, here it is: indescribable memories.
