th of June – Early Early wake up call this morning, as me and my brother drove the car from Mellbystrand to the Copenhagen airport. The flight was delayed 1h 30 min, so it finally departed around 10:55. After roughly 3 hours flight we arrived at Eleftherios Venizelos (Athens International Airport). From there we took a taxi to our hotel; Hilton Athens. The hotel was nice and we had a great view from our room, overlooking Acropolis and the city. After some small relaxing in the hotel room, we then went down to swim in the pool, but it wasn’t very warm in the water it was rather cool, so I didnt stay in the water for more than a few minutes. The evening came, we made ourselves ready, and we went out and had dinner in a nice restaurant called Dionysys. The food was nice and we were sitting outside, eating, looking at Acropolis. After the dinner we started getting tired and returned to the hotel.

th of June – This morning we had a nice breakfast out on the balcony on the 11th floor. After breakfast and getting ready we wanted to go to a museum, but we found out through a taxi driver, Vassilis, that the workers at the museum were on a strike. Instead this taxi driver took us on a 3½ hours tour throughout Athens. He was a superb tour guide and showed us various places, not just the big tourist attractions. First we got to a small and nice sight called Kaisariani Monastery. From there we went up on the Lycabettus Hill to get one of the nicest views of Athens. Then we continued downhill and came to the Kallimarmaro Stadium (Olympic Stadium), where the first Olympic games were held in 1896. We passed by the Syntagma Square and the Parliament before we drove through narrow picturesque streets and reached the Ancient Roman Agora (market), which in the olden days was not only a market, but a place where powerful people had contact with the population. To see the ocean we then drove out to Pireus, which is the home to the big port in Athens. We also got a feeling of the boat life in Athens, as we passed by a couple of harbours with boats and yachts. Just after noon I started to get hungry, so when my brother and I returned to our hotel we had a nice lunch out by the pool. After the lunch I and my brother walked down to the Temple of Olympian Zeus, which was very great to see, we also saw Hadrian’s Arch. From there we walked all the way to the National Archaeological Museum, and along the way to the museum we passed by the Art Academy, University and the National Library. As both I and my brother weren’t very interested in the art at National Archaeological Museum, we didn’t stay there for long. Around 17:45 we came back to our hotel and went down to the swimming pool for awhile, before taking a shower and getting ready for the dinner. We had booked a table at a place called Orizontes up on the Lycabettus Hill. To get there had to take a cable car, and when we got up the restaurant, we were both astonished by the breathtaking view. The view of the city was absolutely amazing, it is among the best city views I have ever seen. The food was nice as well. After the dinner I and my brother walked downhill from the restaurant all the way home to the hotel.

th of June – After breakfast this morning we took a taxi to Acropolis. To be honest, because of the restoration of Acropolis, I didn’t get the historical feeling I was looking for. I rather preferred to look at the Ancient Agora with its temples. We then sat at a café to have something to drink, and we ended up sitting there for two hours; most of the time I wrote postcards. From there we walked in the shopping streets and looked in different shops. At a department store called Attica, we stayed for a few hours and bought some clothes and had a lunch too. Later in the afternoon we walked back to our hotel and relaxed for an hour or so at the swimming pool, but we didn’t jump in the water, because it was too cold. In the evening we ate a nice dinner on the rooftop of our hotel in a restaurant called Galaxy. There was a very nice bar too, with a great view of the city.

th of June – This morning we had our breakfast on the ground floor as we wanted to try the buffet. After the breakfast we went to mail some postcards and then we walked around in the city; my brother did some shopping and we had lunch out on T.G.I. Friday’s. Around 17 hours we got back to our hotel and relaxed awhile in the pool area. When I got up in our hotel room I turned on Al Jazeera and watched a documentary about a mental patients’ institution in Sierra Leone. As I recently visited the country it was very interesting to see, but at the same time tragic. Afterwards we went to dinner out in the area called Plaka. It was a very cosy restaurant and the food was good (not my starter though). For the fourth consecutive evening we had a view of Acropolis, while having our dinner.

th of June – Breakfast. We packed our things, checked out of our hotel and took a taxi to our next destination; Grand Resort Lagonissi. As soon as we arrived it felt like a very quiet place, with not so many guests being there at the moment. After checking in and looking at our room, we then strolled around the resort area and had lunch out by the sea. The atmosphere here was extremely relaxed. In the afternoon we just chilled in two chairs outside of our bungalow; talked, laughed and ate some fresh fruit. We also swam in the Mediterranean Sea, it was quite cold, but very clear water. At the dinner we sat outside in a very cosy place, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, with good food and wine. Just like real honeymooners.

th of June – After the daily breakfast routine, we went out and relaxed by a swimming pool in the resort area. Beside the lunch, we just relaxed by the pool the whole day and had dinner in the evening at a Greek restaurant in the resort area. The food was very good, I had grilled Haloumi cheese as an appetizer and pork fillet Souvlaki as my main dish. The majority of the staffs we met at the resort seemed to be from Russia, so maybe this resort is owned by a Russian.

th of June – Enjoyed a nice breakfast this morning and rested in our room afterwards, before heading out to the basketball court, where my brother dominated me with his skills. After being defeated by junior, we then went to the same pool area as we were the day before, there we just relaxed and had lunch. We hanged around the pool until 19 hours, then we relaxed a little outside of our bungalow for some time, before making ourselves ready for dinner. We ate at a Polynesian restaurant in the resort area. The appetizer I had was spring rolls filled with vegetables, it was so good it was like every bite was a dream. The whole setting out on the water was great. This day ended with watching a Christian children’s channel on the TV called Smile Of A Child, hehe, we laughed a lot how lousy the programmes were.

th of June – The morning started with breakfast and then packing. We checked out just before noon and about 20-25 minutes later we took a cab to the airport, and the cab driver’s driving was annoyingly jerky, among the worst I have been with in years. We got to the airport; checked in, ate something small, before we boarded the airplane. We had seats by the exit, so the room for the legs was nice. After a little less than 3 hours of flying, we landed at Copenhagen International Airport in a weather of rain and +14 degrees Celsius. It was very boring to meet this weather, as we were coming from days with nothing but sunshine and above +30 degrees Celsius.
