Baltic Breeze

We’re back! My good friend Henrik Hansen and I have once again done an excursion together. This is the 4th time that we publish something from our trips.

Two days ago we drove a station wagon into the beautiful fields of Österlen in the province of Scania. I had lots of new experiences and I realized that Österlen is a very beautiful part of Sweden. We had breaks at Smygehuk (Sweden’s southernmost point), beaches, Ale’s Stones (megalithic monument), Simrishamn (coastal town), Stenshuvud National Park as well as many other places (unknown to us).

Bangkok & Bali

Bangkok (5-11 July)
Coming back to this city felt like coming home to something. There is an easiness and laid back atmosphere here. Alexandra & I were joined by our good friends Mattis & Sussi, arriving on the same day in Bangkok. It’s a great experience. It makes me very happy to spend and enjoy another culture together with eyes looking in the same direction at our planet as mine.

While here: Friendliness. Clouds, rain, sun. Humidity. Relaxed hotel. Skin treatments. BTS Skytrain. Fresh breakfast buffet. Window-shopping and shopping in Siam. Ice cream @ Swensen’s. Openness in slum areas. Serious dialogues. Thai designed clothes. Túk-Túk. Thai massage. Foot reflexology. Laughter. Burger King. Siam Ocean World. Relax. SOS Children’s Village. Touched. Tears. Good roads. Traffic jam. Questions. Answers. Knight & Day -> cinema. McDonald’s. Sleep.

Bali (11-22 July)
First time in Indonesia. First time in Bali. Came to the place (Kuta), felt very touristic, got to know the place better and started to like it it a lot. The heat, the pace, the atmosphere, the waves. One downside though, the hawkers and all the people trying to sell stuff. I’m happy that Alexandra and I got the opportunity to see some other parts of the island. There are many highlights from our time in Bali, some are mentioned below…

While here: Screaming children on flight. Tired. Kuta Beach. Waves. Hawkers. Italian restaurant. Shopping. Warm weather. Strong sunshine. Tropical heat. Relaxed. Charter travel feeling. Pool. Massage. Pura Tanah Lot (temple by the sea). Python snake around my neck. Geger Beach. Quiet. Relaxed. Car on the sand. Rude salesman in sun glasses store. Very cosy restaurant. Drinking a lot of water. Beach in Sanur. Restaurant on the beach. Beautiful red dress in silk. Very cosy restaurant. DVD movies. Postcards. Early wakeup. Private boat. Lembongan Island. Crystal clear water. Amazing snorkeling. Strong currents. Cosy restaurant. 30% off the check. Massage. Private car. Tour to North Bali. Pura Taman Ayun. Pura Ulun Danu. Buddhist monastery (Brahma Vihara Arama). Air Panas Banjar (hot springs). Pemaron – Lovina. 1000 Dream Bungalow. Sunset. Pool. Stars. Moon. Massage. Lovely dinner. Breeze from the ocean. Car sick. Silver smith. Surprise for Mattis & Sussi. Laidback. Clothes. DVD Movies. Mistakenly woken by idiots. Early breakfast. Early lunch.  Premier Lounge.

Bangkok (22-25 July)
Back in BKK after our relaxed and chilled time in Bali. It always feels nice coming back to Bangkok.

While here: Heavy rain. Traffic jam. Facial treatments. Shopping. Dentist. Fine dining. Karaoke experience. Clubs after midnight. Yak Sant Tattoo @ Wat Bang Phra. Holiday. Shopping. Dinner together. Saying goodbye. Packing. Checking-in. Getting slapped by a kid. Boarding.

Bangkok, Koh Chang, Koh Kood; Thailand

Just spent two weeks in Thailand together with Alexzandra. What a great country with really nice people. Very easy to travel around…

Our Bangkok experience (15-22 Oct)
Stayed in a cozy hotel. Used the Skytrain a lot. Visited lots of malls; Siam Center, Siam Discovery, Siam Paragon, MBK Center, Central World Plaza etc. Had our own barbecue in a restaurant. Went by Tuk-Tuk. Got a Sak Yant tattoo at Wat Bang Pra (famous for sacred tattooing). Got Thai massage, fish therapy and pedicure. Watched a 3D movie at the IMAX theater. Saw breakdancers in the street. Shopped at the huge Chatuchak Weekend Market (JJ Market), the biggest market in Thailand. Visited the Damoen Saduak Floating Market. Cuddled with a tiger at Wat Pa Luangta Bua Yannasampanno Forest Monastery (Tiger Temple). Witnessed the historical Death Railway Brigde over the River Kwai. Saw Wat Phra Kaew (The Temple of the Emerald Buddha) and the Grand Palace. Enjoyed Wat Pho with its reclining Buddha. Took the elevator 64 floors up to the Sky bar at the Lebua Hotel to witness the amazing view of Bangkok. Went to a night sloppy nightclub. We had more experiences in Bangkok, but to sum it all up…

…we had a really nice feeling of Buddhism surrounding the atmosphere of Bangkok all the time, making it a very relaxing city to spend our time in, having in thought that the city has more than 11 million people. Bangkok, we miss you!

Our Koh Chang experience (22-26 Oct)
5 hrs in a bus from Bangkok. Took a ferry from the mainland to the island. Had a cozy bungalow by Khlong Prao Beach. Had dinners on the beach. Got Thai massage. Swam in warm ocean water. Had treatments at a Spa. Rented a scooter. Elephant trekking; swam with the elephant and rode it ourselves.

Koh Chang was a nice island, which is probably on the edge of getting too touristy, but where we stayed was still “quiet”, due to the fact that the real tourist season hadn’t started yet.

Our Koh Kood experience (26-29 Oct)
Took a speedboat from Koh Chang. Came to crystal clear waters. Realized the greatness of the tranquility. Mosquitoes between 4-8pm. Swam in the darkness. Relaxed a lot. Had Thai massage. Rented a scooter. Saw small development for the future. Met with a nice Swedish family. Visited a waterfall. Left the island too early, could have been there a lot longer.

We’ve been affected by Thailand, we need to go back…
